一、课程的性质、目的与任务：
《基础英语》（一）是一门专业技能课程， 其主要目的在于培养和提高学生综合运用英语的能力。本课程主要通过语言基础训练与篇单元讲解分析, 使学生逐步提高语篇阅读理解能力,了解英语各种文体的表达和特点, 扩大词汇量和熟悉英语常用句型, 具备基本的口头与笔头表达能力。教师应鼓励学生积极参与课堂的各种语言交际活动以获得基本的交际技能, 并达到新《大纲》所规定的听、说、读、写、译等技能的要求。
二、教学的基本要求：
通过传授英语基础知识，对学生进行全面、严格的基本技能训练，培养学生实际运用语言的能力，良好的学风和正确的学习方法，为学生今后的学习打下扎实的基础。使学生了解基础阶段所需掌握的基本词汇、短语、修辞以及语法知识，熟悉它们的使用方法，使其具备扎实的基本功底。同时，了解相关的基础文化背景知识，从而加深对语言的理解。理解每篇课文的基本内容，通过的阅读训练使学生对篇单元的理解达到较高的水平。通过课堂上的口语练习，掌握语言交流中的基本知识和技巧，使学生能较流畅准确的用英语表达自己的思想，具备较强的实际交际能力。掌握各种文体的写作方法和技巧，并能够运用到自己的口头表达和书面写作中。
三、教学内容：
第一单元 Never Say Goodbye 6学时

1、理解课文基本内容，以及重点词、短语、句型的含义和用法
2、掌握课文篇章展开的写作技巧

本单元教学难点：identify the flashbacks in the chronological narration; analysis of writing technique
第二单元 The Fun They Had 6学时
本单元教学目标：
1. Background information about the writer and his representative works
2. Detailed study of the text
3. Key words and expressions
4. Difficult sentences.
本单元教学基本要求：
1、理解课文基本内容，以及重点词、短语、句型的含义和用法
3、掌握课文篇章展开的写作技巧
本单元教学重点：background information; description of future world
本单元教学难点：stylistic feature of scientific fiction and its characteristics in language
第三单元 Whatever Happened to Manners? 6学时
本单元教学目标：
1. Background information about different forms and values of Manners in different cultures
2. Detailed study of of the text

本单元教学基本要求：
1、了解不同文化背景知识
